Evidence of Electron-phonon Interaction in the Infrared Spectra of Oxide Superconductors

چکیده
We show that the structure in ab-plane infrared spectra of the oxide superconductors can be understood in terms of the electron-phonon interaction. The minima in the optical conductivity seen in the oxygen breathing mode region translate to peaks in the frequency dependent scattering rate. The position and the width of the peaks are in reasonable agreement with structure seen in timeof-flight neutron spectroscopy. We interpret the appearance of phonon modes in the highly metallic ab-plane in terms of a charged phonon model borrowed from the theory of organic conductors.

Electron–phonon interaction and optical spectra of metals
Observed optical reflectivity in the infrared spectral region is compared with theoretical predictions in a strongly coupled electron–phonon system. Starting from a Fröhlich Hamiltonian, the spectral functions and their temperature dependence are derived. A full analysis including vertex corrections leads to an expression for the optical conductivity σ(ω) which can be formulated in terms of the...

It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...

Theoretical computation of the pressure dependence superconducting state parameters of binary Ca60Al40 is reported using model potential formalism. Explicit expressions have been derived for the volume dependence of the electron–phonon coupling strength λ and the Coulomb pseudopotential μ* considering the variation of Fermi momentum KF and Debye temperature ӨD with volume. Well known Ashcroft’s...
متن کاملInfrared signatures of hole and spin stripes in La2−xSrxCuO4
We investigate the hole and lattice dynamics in a prototypical high-temperature superconducting system La2−xSrxCuO4 using infrared spectroscopy. By exploring the anisotropy in the electronic response of CuO2 planes we show that our results support the notion of stripes. Nevertheless, charge ordering effects are not apparent in the phonon spectra. All crystals show only the expected infrared act...
متن کاملPHONON SPECTRA OF HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTOR Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 : THEORY AND EXPERIMENT*
Since the discovery of the high Tc superconductivity by Bednorz and Muller, several workers around the world have studied several systems to reach a really high Tc superconductor. As the strong electron-phonon coupling may be one of the possible origins of the high Tc, a knowledge about the phonon in these materials is essential. In order to investigate phonon spectra, Raman and infrared spectr...
